Canadian Bred Blue Dwarf Crayfish (Cambarellus diminutus)

Overview: The Blue Dwarf Crayfish (Cambarellus diminutus) is a small, peaceful species that thrives in nano aquariums. Bred in Canada, these crayfish are a fascinating addition to any tank, with colors ranging from blueish to brownish, and they tend to become more blue as they mature. With a maximum size of just 1 inch, they are one of the smallest crayfish species available, making them perfect for tanks as small as 6 gallons. Their gentle temperament makes them compatible with most fish and similarly-sized invertebrates, though they may show some territorial behavior toward each other.

This dwarf crayfish is an excellent scavenger and will help keep the tank clean by feeding on detritus and leftover food. They are active during the day and, unlike larger crayfish, they don’t typically hide. Their small size and peaceful nature make them an ideal choice for anyone looking to introduce invertebrates to a community tank.

  • Average Purchase Size: 0.5 – 0.75 inch (1.3 – 1.9 cm)
