Young Platinum Koi Guppy Overview

The Koi Guppy is a striking and unique guppy variety that resembles the vivid patterns of koi fish, with its bright red, white, and sometimes yellow coloration. This guppy is a popular choice for hobbyists looking for a vibrant and eye-catching centerpiece fish in their aquarium. Their hardy nature and ease of breeding make them ideal for both beginners and experienced aquarists.

These are Young Adults → They are at breeding age but a bit smaller than our other guppies.

Appearance

  • Body Coloration: The Koi Guppy features a mix of bold red and white colors, often with a solid red head and white body resembling traditional koi patterns. Some may have additional black or yellow markings.

  • Tail and Fins: Flowing and rounded fins, sometimes with additional splashes of color. Tail patterns can vary, with some showing clear edges or translucent touches.

  • Size: Males grow to about 1.5 inches, while females can reach up to 2 inches.

Guppy Care:

Tank Parameters:

  • Minimum Tank Size: 5 gallons (19 liters)

  • pH Range: 6.5-8.0

  • Hardness: 100 to 150 mg/L (6 to 8 dH)

  • Temperature: 20-26°C (68-78°F)

Behavior:

  • Temperament: Peaceful

  • Tank Level: Top, mid-dweller

Diet:

  • Type: Omnivore

  • Feed them a variety of high-quality flakes, pellets, frozen, or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms.

Breeding:

  • Type: Live-bearer

  • Females can give birth to 20-50 fry at a time, making them a fun choice for breeding projects. Separate fry into a nursery tank to ensure survival.
