Green Jade Dark shrimp (Neocaridina heteropoda var.) are a captivating variant known for their rich, deep green coloration. These shrimp can also produce offspring with emerald-like hues, sometimes referred to as “Green Emeralds” or “Hulks.” Native to Taiwan, Green Jade Darks are ideal for aquarists seeking colorful additions to their tanks. Their peaceful nature and adaptability make them perfect for community tanks and beginner keepers.

These shrimp are known for their ability to thrive in various water conditions. However, they may change color during shipping due to stress, appearing darker or bluish. With proper care, their vibrant hues return within 24 hours, especially when housed on dark substrates.

Origin: Taiwan
Maximum Size: 2–2.5 cm (0.8–1 inch)

Green Jade Dark Shrimp Care:

Tank Parameters Required:

  • pH Range: 6.6–7.6

  • gH (General Hardness): 6–15

  • kH (Carbonate Hardness): 1–5

  • TDS (Total Dissolved Solids): 150–300

  • Temperature: 18–26°C (64–80°F)

Temperament: Omnivore / Non-aggressive
Breeding: Extremely Easy
Difficulty Level: Extremely Easy
